Low Tide On A Tourist Beach
Lens: HD Pentax DA 16-85mm Camera: K-70 Photo Location: North Coast California ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/500s Aperture: F11

Wave spouts popped up high on rocks that are usually mostly submerged.
And "patterns in the sand" left by tourists led right to those wave spouts.
I usually want a pristine beach--but then, what's wrong with photographing human history (of six hours)?
Angky.

Love the composition and the colours. The scene seems to have a bit of mystery with all the footprints but no humans!

Another great composition with marvelous colors. The foreground of footprints in the sand leads you to the beautiful coast and turbulent sea. Well done, Angky.

An interesting note you make regarding a bit of mystery.
Yes, I definitely see that.
Glad you brought it up because I was so intense on making the shot at just the right moment that I didn't see the mysterious aspect.
Thanks for the note.
Angky.

Thank you, Mike!
Those lines of footprints did the same for me, so that's why I included so much of them.
I didn't contemplate a mysterious aspect to it, but that also is there in the footprints with no person.
The footprints almost make the shot, now that I look back on it.

Thank you, Jer!
I did get quite a few shots that turned out really well; that is just because of being at the right place at the right time.
All I had to do was hold the camera level (the sea horizon keeps a guy honest!) and squeeze very gently--many times!
Glad you appreciate the image.

Beautiful "atmosphere" image. You could imagine tens of framing possibilities with such a scene ...

Yes, Richard, you sure are right in saying there are framing possibilities.
I think I have at least ten differently composed shots of that scene!
It just wouldn't end!

Yes, that lighting....!!!!
I keep lamenting the fact that I am not able to spend more time in such lighting situations all the way over there on the coast.
And, as you know, the moody cloud days here in California are not many.
Maybe I should make a long run back "home" to Oregon where the clouds never go away (but the lighting there is all just flat gray)!
Anyway, I'm glad I was there to get these shots.
And glad too that you appreciated it!
Angky.

Thank you, Loris.
Seascapes can be "strange" that way. A very tumultuous ocean actually tends to calm a person who is watching it.
Glad you liked it.
