Another from my drive last week in the snow. This area is just outside Yosemite park.

Both with the DA*16-50mm

Nice series Josh... The B&W works on both of these... Prefer the first one though the second is nice too. JIMBO

Love the lighting in both pics. My favorite is also the first one.

I really enjoy your b/w treatments! You caught this at a lovely time of day.

I like the composition of the first shot better... though, I wish it was panned a bit more to the right so we could see more of those tall, tall trees and more of a lead in with that dandy ol' fence. This would bring the barn just a bit more in the left of the frame and I feel the image would be better balanced.

Nitpicks aside.... nice snaps!

These are pretty good as you have managed not to darken the shadow areas too much.

I agree with the majority, I like the 1st one the best due to it's dramatic composition.

Postcards stuff for sure.

Thanks Jimbo. They look pretty good in color too, but my preference w/ shots like this is B&W

Thank you Susan. It's funny, I prefer the second to the point that I almost didn't post the first, glad I went with both.

Thanks Kim... I haven't tried 'em sepia style, I may have to give that a go. I find in general that B&W shots feel cold and sepia warm to me, so I'll probably prefer the B&W. I'm glad you enjoyed 'em.

Thanks Hamid. Good advice. The scene was beautiful in person, but I never felt that excited about my compositions of it in the viewfinder. These were probably the best two...

Thank you Ray. I'd like to print a series of postcards of our local mountains and hills when I've built up a good set, so thanks for the encouragement.

Nice shots Josh - great B&W images. Those towering trees give a great perspective!

Curious about the second image: do you have one with a little more sky?

Regards,
Marc

Number 1 has that "All American Cathedral Look" (cf. the book Landscape and Memory by Simon Schama), the effect of the towering trees. I like it the drama in it. How are they in colour?

Botha re good shots with good compositions as already pointed out. I like the pattern of the light on the roof. My preference is the horizontal # 2 image because of the clouds.

Nice Josh I prefer the second one. It jist offers more of the foreground / middle / background images as they are all interesting.
