Nice shot of the skink. This one's colors look very similar to the Coal Skink that I often see here. It does look like it may be longer. What size is this lizard?

From tip of nose to tip of tail, this one looked to be about 10-11 inches long. The Australian Museum site (Eastern Water Skink - The Australian Museum) put it at about 28 cm long, which is close to my estimate for this one.

EDIT: I have corrected my naming: NOT Eastern River Skink, should have been Eastern Water Skink (my shot was in a dry rocky water bed, near a creek).

Thanks for the info. I'll be looking for skinks soon. I saw a small one briefly while doing some yard cleanup, yesterday.

This image definitely shows the skink in a different way than we unfortunates who do not understand reptiles often picture them in mind's eye.
