All creatures great & large
Posted By: Mallee Boy, 03-16-2007, 05:57 PM

Some wildlife shots from the archives, some have been posted before. All shot with the DS in that horrible jpeg
Some have had a trip through the lightroom for cropping and minor fiddle. I haven't used either of these lens' for awhile now, if I was doing a similar trip the 50-200 would be the first choice.
Cheers
Grant

Very nice, you've got some great subjects there. The sunset picture is my favorite, the colors are great. Good job.

The deer one is excellent. Gorgeous colour and caught it just right.

I like them all, but the first one really gets my attention, there's just something about waves crashing down that draws my attention.

Thanks folks, appreciate the comments.
The deer was just luck, two scampered across the road, I stopped the car... but thought I had missed them, when this lovely head popped up really close.

The ducks in the rapids really intrigued me, one poor little devil tried three times to take off, he would flap like mad, sort of run across the water....almost get airborne...when a little wave would smack him down again, so he would scramble back to his little refuge on the rock and try again.

The bear was near the east entrance of YNP, luckily I had the 100-300 on the camera...it has been cropped too. I did get out of the car, but it was always moving away from me and the wind was in my favour.

The sunrise was Yellowstone Lake, Grant Village. The bird flew past me, really close and then dipped to the water, its wing tips touching the water, if you look carefully you can see the splashes made by the wings. Again, just lucky, right place, right time.

None of these have had a lot of pp, the jpeg quailty really is very good and much maligned.

Thanks for looking, glad you enjoyed them.
Grant

Fantastic shots. The mood in 3, 4, 5 are very well captured.

The seagull in the ocean seem to be coping with the raging waves quite well. My favorite shot!
