Great shot series. I don't believe that we have the Ladder Backed Woodpeckers in this area. I like their look. Nice shots, Todd.

Thanks Mike. I looked up their range and it doesn't extend to your area. They are limited to the southern parts of the southwestern states.

That bird has a serious attitude about life!!!
You caught its perspective on life excellently.
(You might see me looking foolish with a big long lens attached to my face, but you won't see me hanging upside down pecking grubs out of galls on an oak tree!)
Sorry! I just couldn't help the humorous imagination of how we look compared to that upside-down bird with her dirty bill!

Thanks Angky! She was very serious about her task of digging out those grubs. I probably could have walked right up to her, because she was not at all concerned about me. Every once in a while, she would stop and give me a staccato chatter that only woodpeckers can do, and then go right back to work.
