Both are great shots

Its unusual to have a camera when you see a Sun Dog.

But that Sunset blew me away Clarence.. GREAT JOB!!!

Polarizing filter and cranked the EV down for a variety of shots.
Saw it with my plain cheap blue sunglasses too so proceeded with the camera work from there.
Thanks!

That may explain why I never see them! I always have my sunvisor down during a sunny day and rarely where sunglasses because I already wear glasses.

By the way it was a bit of an effort for me to get up off the ground encumbered with camera and old body too.
Every one else has said all there is to say about the pix. Great.

But was the reason for the low angle in the sunset really by choice or were you on your way home from your favorite bar???
It would have added to the difficulty of re-establishing a vertical posture too.

I used to wear glasses too. Found the clip on polarizer sunglasses worked same. Wouldn't have seen this one if it I weren't composiing another shot and the sun went behind a cloud, so changing my light. Looked over my shoulder to determine when the lighting would be better from the size of the cloud and saw the sundog. I don't often look directly at the sun unless it is a sunset so I probably miss a lot of them too.

Rolly you turkey. I gave up going out for 'refreshments' years ago. Too much trouble in my youth. Went down by choice and got up with effort and grunt.
