There's so much to see that we need to rest a little. Pentax K1 + DFA 28-105 mm HD

Family resting in the shade along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Midday is the worst time of the day to enjoy the view, morning and evening bringing a firework of colors in the abyss. Pentax K1 + DFA 28-105 mm HD @ f/11 and 28 mm FL.

It still looks like a nice view even at midday. Beautiful sky!

THX !

Midday is really the worst time to visit Grand Canyon. Like, I once heard a French tourist say : "Ce ne sont que des roches après tout !" (These are only rocks after all !).

Low sidelight creates shadows and warm colors, adding depth and texture to the images you take. Early morning and late afternoon create the best opportunities for fantastic imaging.

Great catch of the clouds--even have some of that typical Arizona cloudburst cell in the background.

I experienced this phenomenon on my third trip to "The Canyon," when I arrived by tourist train at 11 am. At that hour on the South Rim, the light comes from right over your shoulder. Robbed of natural shadows, the canyon looks like a flat painting of itself. I could see how so many visitors might go away disappointed if they didn't stay longer. The light was just beginning to ripen when it was time for the "All Aboard" fr the trip back to Williams. I shoulda gotta room!

THX !

If you get near the rim of the Canyon very early in the morning (5h00 AM in the summer), you will probably be all alone, enjoying an amazing "light show".

Have a good trip ! Best piece of advice : "Flee the crowds". The best sites are viewed alone or with few people.
