Scarlet Elf Cups

Saw these unusual fungi growing along the trail for the first time. They grow around the world in the northern hemispheres. The Native Americans used them to stop bleeding, and they are considered edible...although not very tasty.

Interesting find, Joe. Not something that I have seen before. They are bright red. No top to them? Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the info on these.
I've seen them a lot in darker damp places with well decayed wood--or at least something that looks a lot like them.
