All along the watchtower
Posted By: NaClH2O, 12-30-2008, 07:53 PM

I just wish I had taken this shot a couple of months ago so I could have entered it into the monthly contest, the one with the "song" theme. Taken at Longwood Gardens outside Philly on a very foggy evening just past dusk. I used my trusty old DS as it is a better low light camera than the K10D. FA 43 ltd at f1.9, 1/15sec, ISO 400. Monopod shot. It was spotted so that the openings were highlighted, I like the effect but could do without the blue bit in front of the tower.

Thanks James, I was surprised that it came out at all, very little light and I was worried about my lens fogging up. I also only had a monopod, I knew I would have only a tiny amount of space so I left the tri at home.

Nicely captured with monopod in those conditions! I like the mysterious feeling .. the mist and still some details. Well done!

Funky shot, buddy - interesting that you'd think of this. I dimly recall Dylan wrote this song, but the title made me think of Hendrix.

Hey Jer, Happy new year to you! Dylan wrote it but it was Hendrix that made it soar!
I think this is the Dylan version, dark and mysterious. The Hendrix version would have to have fireworks in it!

Thanks! I still use the DS for low light conditions. A much better low light camera than the K10D. I wish I had used it to photograph the fountain show they had. I think I would have done much better than I did with the K10D and a tripod. Even at 400 ISO the K10D had a lot of noise.

Thanks Gerog. I like dark moody photos. Especially in the winter.
