Dragonfly on my Clothes Line
Lens: PENTAX-D FA 100mm f/2.8 WR Macro Camera: Pentax K3 iii Photo Location: My Back Yard (Ipswich, QLD) ISO: 5000 Shutter Speed: 1/1000s Aperture: F18

It gave me plenty of time grab the camera, flash (my new Pentax AF 540 FGZ ii, diffusor attachment, set the flash for High Speed Sync etc.

Probably should have settled for a lower shutter speed, ISO.......

I believe you did an exemplary job in nailing this subject where he lives. Also, a very interesting background view. Awesome work here.

It's a good image, but a tad soft. It could be that that you stopped down the lens a little too much. Nice colors.

Hmmm - a tad soft? I thought it was reasonably sharp. And I have shut down much more than F18 with this lens and had very sharp results.

Maybe it is the lighting, lack of contrast? I did use an on-camera flash with a diffuser hood - perhaps the lighting is a little flat?

Always up for any kind of feedback!

EDIT: I went back and did a little more processing (particularly with increased contrast). Does this version seem a little sharper??

Terrific shot Peter. This version is nice and sharp, particularly when you view it on Flickr. I have had no problems going to F18 or sometimes more with the DFA 100 or my Irix 150.

It looks a lot better on Flickr than the linked copy. The contrast change did help. Either way, nice shot.

Thanks for posting the second edition. Adding the contrast makes it seem sharper to me. After looking at both images again, I can see the sharpness is there in both images, but for me, the increased contrast makes it more evident in the second. Thanks for responding to my comment. By the way, I enjoy viewing all of your imaging.

Your laundry adventures really need to be repeated regularly.
Very interesting creatures you shoot!
And good pix of them too.
Angky.
