B&W Flora

I usually don't think much about converting very colorful flowers to B&W, however I've been experimenting with some conversion techniques and decided to try this image. Comments much appreciated.

I think the conversation to B&W worked well on this one Morgan. I find the background taking a little from the shot IMO... Beautiful Image though. JIMBO

I think you're right. I need to try again and push for deeper blacks in the bg.

Okay, I adjusted the black level and did a bit of cloning in the dark background to tone down some of the artifacts. It looks a lot more pleasing to me now. Thanks for the suggestion Jimbo!

I think the contrast adds a lot to the image. What is it about the black background that is distracting? just trying to learn what people are seeing.
