First photoshoot using off camera flash.
Posted By: turbosaturn, 12-31-2008, 02:42 AM

This is only my second time out on a photoshoot since I decided to take photos of models rather than my usual floral photography. I took the opportunity to experiment with two 360FGZ flashes to see what I could come up with. I've only started taking pictures with a DSLR three months ago so I would like to get some constructive criticism.

I like #4 the best, the flash seems to be the most even of the bunch. The first 3 are pretty good, the only issue I have with them is that it looks like one of your flashes is over powered and shining right in her face giving her a pale washed out look. Maybe if you turned down the power on that unit and diffused it a little they would look better, but thats just my opinion.

#3 is my favourite for the great mix of light and strong colour.

There is a quality about them that doesnt feel very fine though. Were you shooting on a high ISO or have you done some photoshop to them?

Also, rim lighting or backlighting and the odd diffuser would have made a great difference in this shoot.

They are a good first effort.

The subject is too centered though. Try filling the frame with just her.

My 2 cents worth.
