Venus, Moon conjunction on New Year's eve
Posted By: gawan, 12-31-2008, 10:20 AM

Some of you will be interestred to take the opportunity to shoot tonight.

There will be a conjunction of Moon and Venus. Venus is now on it's brightest and the crescent Moon is a photogenic companion to it, don't you think?

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

If you will get some nice shots on this subject, you are welcome to post them to this thread!

Hi Georg,

I was just outside and wondered is that a planet or a star and here you tell me that it is a Venus. Looked nice, but there are some clouds now. Lets see ...

Nice pic by the way. Happy New Year to you Georg!

Happy New Year as well . I noticed that last night in the car - without camera I am afraid and then forgot about it. Nice shot.

Nice shot. We can't see it here with a white out blizzard that's forecast to last 2+ days. My world has suddenly gone white!

I love it when they do that! Jupiter was pretty close to them a few weeks back too.

Good capture!

Thank you for the comments, guys! I was going to try again today with a longer lens, but moon moves too fast, so there is only a change to get a wide angle scene still.

Great, thanks for joining! Looks like you were a bit closer of the actual conjunction time, than I was.

Nice shot. It was somewhat visible here but the temps were below 0 F with blowing snow and was a very hazy view.
