I retrieved this picture today, taken in 2017 during a trip around the Gaspé Peninsula. At the end of the peninsula is a small town named "PERCÉ" from where you can see this huge rock in the ocean. The rock is 700 feet tall and half a mile in length.

I chose a camping spot for my 5-ton Ford RV from where I knew I could align the rising sun with the rock in mid-June. I woke up at 4h30 AM, opened my side window, mounted my Pentax K1 + FA 80-200 mm f/2.8 zoom on my Manfrotto tripod and waited.

At first the sky was totally overcast and I thought "Well maybe some other morning ...". Then the sun rose, the sky cleared and the light changed completely.
I captured this most amazing sunrise anyone could die for at 200 mm FL, 1/50 sec @ f/8.

Absolutely beautiful sunrise capture, Richard. Intense morning colors. The layered clouds and that huge rock in the ocean really provided a great scene.

What's more, this "light show" lasted only a few minutes after it started. Sometimes situations are so fickle and are totally unpredictable.
