Testing the F300, F4.5 with the 1.4 HD Teleconverter

I recently purchased a used copy of the F300, F4.5 lens off EBay to see how it performed with the Pentax 1.4 HD teleconverter. I've been trying to perform lens adjustment on the combo to try to obtain best focus. Here are few sample shots. Feel free to give your opinion.

Very good shots, all of them. If you are not right on focus, you are very, very close. I really like the second swallowtail shot.

I don't know how you could improve the focus, at least from the shots I'm seeing here.
Glad to see you got a good copy of the 300.
Mine is a clumsy beast for me, but does some beautiful images.
I'm impressed that you were able to use that combo to get a butterfly shot done so well.
Angky.

Thanks for looking and commenting, Todd. I've been wavering between 2 settings. I'll probably continue to test between them until I'm confident that I have it right. The lens has great reviews.

Thank you very much. Maybe I am close to the proper adjustment. It seems pretty good for a lens introduced in 1987.

Thank you very much for viewing and your comments. I may have it adjusted as close as I can get. I do have to remember to unscrew that lens hood.😊

Thank you, EM. I'm glad you liked the series. I was never quite satisfied with the 55-300 PLM combo with the HD 1.4 teleconverter. I purchased the F300 to see if it was better with the teleconverter. So far I believe it is, but I kind of miss the zoom range of the 55-300 for framing. Thanks for viewing.

These came out really sharp. I think you have the lens dialed in.

Thanks, David. I was going between two settings for a while, but I guess I'll stick with the current settings for now.

Thanks, Jer. I think it will be a good lens. I normally shoot with zoom lens so I do have to work on framing my shots more, especially if the teleconverter is attached. it is an old lens, but highly regarded. Affordable long lens are pretty scarce for Pentax.
