got these two late today.. Very dark out.. The duck was shot ISO 500 at 200mm F3.2 @ 1/40 sec... Wish I had more light and didn't have time to set up my Tri-pod... The Heron was shot at ISO 640 @ 145 MM F.45 at 1/50 sec [Both TVA modes as I was struggling for light] Both shot using my Sigma 70-200. Cheers JIM

Jimbo, the second image of the blue heron stands out for me. Sharp. And I love how the image is almost monochromatic, the bird reflecting the colours of its surroundings. Very nice.

Thanks JMR... I have over 100 images of Herons shot.. About 20 at keepers... They don't like anyone near them. Slow and steady and move down to where they just flu to... I was happy considering the low light and shutter speed though I also really like the duck picture. JIM

Both nice shots, especially the heron. All of our birds around here seem to have departed for warmer places except for a few crows.

Both are great Jimbo! The green colour from ducks head is beautiful and the heron shot has subtle colours with intense feeling ... Nice work!

Thanks Kurt. I was more happt with these due to the poor light I had to deal with. I really do like the duck and it has given me ideas for the next time. Cheers JIM

Very desciptive images, I think the dark lighting has just added to the mood, the blueish cast enhances the feeling of chill, as does the posture of that heron, great catch!

Thanks Dominique... Everyone seems to like the Heron though I prefer the duck shot. It was more of a challenge and though it was a sharper image. JIM
