Petit Jean State Park, Cedar Falls Trail
Lens: Sigma 17-70 Camera: Pentax KP Photo Location: Petit Jean State Park ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/45s Aperture: F8

Recently, we visited Petit Jean State Park after recent rains to view Cedar Falls. In the summertime the waterfall is only a trickle, so we decided to go after recent rains. The trail to the falls is moderate to difficult. Coming back from the falls is the most difficult as the last 1/2 mile of the 2 mile round round trip is climbing back up out.

Looks like a beautiful area. They really should design trails so the easy part is at the end...
Beautiful shots

Thank you, David. The only bird that I saw was an Indigo bunting. Petit Jean is the most popular state park in Arkansas and is now 100 years old. You don't see much wildlife but there are many areas with great rock formations.

Thanks for viewing and commenting, Tony. This park is approximately a 45 minute drive from where we live. It's a great place to get out in the wilds. Most of the old buildings at this park and the trails were built by the CCC.

Really nice - and relaxing - series, Mike! These shots remind me of the state parks in southern Illinois where we spent many a day when I was young in the '50s.

Thanks, Jer. Based on the number of families visiting Petit Jean it's still a prime activity. Glad that liked the images.

Thanks for viewing and commenting. I took these photos on a family outing with our granddaughter and a friend. The trails at Petit Jean have lots to offer for photography.

Natural Park with very photogenic corners, in particular the waterfalls in the pound.
Very nice shots Mike.

Thank you, Loris. The primary reason that we visited the waterfall on this trip was to catch it with good water flow. In the summer it slows to a trickle. I'm glad you liked the images.

Great shots!
The first one--of the waterfall--I really like. Very well composed to my eye.
And the huge boulder with a little trees (ash trees?) around it is greatly appealing as well.
