I took pictures of this Maple tree with my new HD DA 70 mm f/2.4 LIMITED lens at all f-stops. Here I post results @ f/2.8, @ f/5.6 and @ f/11. All images are quite good, only DOF seems to vary much. More images will be needed.

All the images look pretty good, Richard. You can see the changes in DOF at the different apertures.

Well, I find these "quite disappointing" if I compare them to similar pictures I took with my HD DA 55-300 mm zoom at 70 mm FL.

That seems weird, Richard. Do you think that you got a bad copy of the lens?

I will test it more before making a final opinion. The lens is new, it seems well-centered, it is flare resistant. I will try it on a tripod at my "benchmark scene" sites before concluding it is a lemon. Some results are very good, others seem weaker ... Only time will tell and it gives me something to care (or worry) about ... LOL !
