A Unique View of the Top of Cathedral Rock
Lens: DA*60-250 Camera: K-3II Photo Location: Sedona, AZ ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/500s Aperture: F9

I was going through my raw files to thin them down, and I saw this shot from several years ago that I never did anything with. For those of you familiar with Sedona, I was on a trail on the north side of town below Capitol Butte, looking to the south at Cathedral Rock. The tree covered area below it is Airport Mesa at the southwest end of the runway. Sedona is in front of this down below and completely out of sight. From this location, the runway on the top of Airport Mesa is about 2 1/2 miles away and Cathedral Rock is about 4 miles away. The back line of hills are about 10 miles away. Cathedral Rock is much taller than it looks from this view with the bottom blocked off by Airport Mesa.

This a very nicely composed view of Cathedral Rock. It looks very impressive, indeed. This image is also a well processed black and white image. As large as that is, it hard to consider it as a rock. Well done, Todd.

Almost an other-worldly scene, the way you put it together with the foreground / background.
Great shot!

Thanks Mike! The rock formations around Sedona provide so many different looks depending on where you are viewing them from.
