La Caravana Nocturna

~~~~~
This so makes me want to do some night camping underneath the starry skies. Friends, fun, stories, tacos and beer. I illuminated the vintage camper and rusty Ford vehicle with warm white light from a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 light during the long exposure. Light painting to illuminate subjects is a beautiful, addictive art, as you can walk around the scene, deciding what to bring to light and what to keep in shadow. Photographed before a night photography workshop that we taught in the Nevada desert.
(Plate 9881) Pentax K-1/28-105mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. 2 minute exposure. May 2023.
I think this is going to be in my fourth book of abandoned locations, which will be released next year. Working on it now.
Below is the book I have that just came out.
That is one cool shot. Looks like someone pulled over and left it there, 70 to 80 years ago. I love the lighting and the long exposure effect on the overhead clouds. Congrats on your new book release.
Where did you find a hook up like this? Did you go inside it to illuminate it, or illuminate from outside?
Thank you, excited about the new book. Yeah, it looks like this scene from a long time ago. And one that looks so inviting.
There is a ghost town in Nevada called Nelson where they have this abandoned stuff. I do find a lot of abandoned stuff around the desert as well.
I illuminated it from the outside and inside with a warm white light. To illuminate the interior, I carefully shot light through several windows on the back side. I say "carefully" because it was a little challenging to avoid shining the light straight into the camera lens. I illuminated the exterior from several different angles. All of this was done with a handheld light. In fact, I was there teaching a night photography workshop and was teaching light painting while I was there.
Thanks! I did post a photo of a church in the mountains of Nevada earlier today. Beautiful setting, that was.
I appreciate your comments!
The desert is full of surprises, haha! Thanks!
This was a Flickr Explore photo. I always find out late, coming around and seeing all these comments suddenly appearing!
