more orchids part the second!
Posted By: NaClH2O, 03-17-2007, 10:16 PM

Well, obviously I wasn't thinking clearly, I should have made this post the reply of my first post! That's what I get for doing these things at 1AM.

90mm f4.5 at 1/125

90mm f5.6 at 1/45

90mm f3.5 at 1/180

50mm f2.8 at 1/125

50mm f5.6 at 1/500

90mm f5.6 at 1/350. Difficult shot white flower, deep shade with a bright window just behind it.

On my way out I saw the dried Hydragea just in front of some red stemmed Virbunum of some kind.
50mm f6.7 at 1/125

If you haven't had enough orchids, these and a whole bunch more can be found here:

what... ??

Where was the first post? Oh yeah, I've been away a lot lately. Doh... I'll have to go check...

Those are what I call "visual stimulation". Great images - especially #3. I like purples, etc. Now I need to go look for the others...

The colors are terrific, Buddy. Man, you can handle that macro - did you use a tripod?

Thanks for the comments everybody. Glad you enjoyed them. Jer, NYBG doesn't allow tripods inside, leastways not when there are more than a few people there. And believe me the place was pretty full. So all the macros were hand held. Just like shooting a rifle, keep your elbows in, line it up, focus, take a deep breath, hold it and constant steady pressure on the suttter button. My biggest problem is follow thru. As soon as the shutter goes click I want to pull away. I've blown more shots by pulling away before the shutter finished closing. I have to tell myself "wait 1 second".

Salty,

Thanks for sharing the technique. When doing longer shutter shots, I sorta do the same thing with my breathing and squeezing the shutter, but forget my elbows and get the shaky shot as a result

Wow! Loved the first set, and I love the second set! The second picture has a 3d feel to it, and the colors of the flowers in the third picture are fabulous! Thanks for brightening up another gloomy Ohio day!
