I think I got infected with the winter doldrum from some members lately

I would agree something very calming about the shot yet intriguing as if waiting for something to appear from the mist and fog. Well done.
Like Stephen King's movie "Mist"?

That movie scared the hell out of me...

Thanks for the visit

You have outdone yourself this time. Fabulous shot. What is that in the top right, rain drops on the lens? If you open up the shadows and try to reduce the blackness as much as possible, it will not only look better but will be more printable.

JMR
Thanks for the constructive criticism.

The right top bit is the result of violent shaking of the trees.

The attempt to brighten up was a failure for me. The difficulty to make it a picture of clarity is that the dense fog and rain obscure any chance to obtain texture and details of the scenery. Inside the shadows, there is only shadow I see where you are coming from. My friends were basicly dismissing me from taking photos on this view and I tried to prove a point

I think I would print it small instead of big.

Thanks Marc. The image was sitting in my hard disc for some time before I dug them out. Glad to have your approval

Well done, James. Brilliant colours, portrays a real mood.
Nice to see the Eucalypts shot, among all the brilliant snow shots from the Northern Winter
Hehe. Hard to compete with all the northern winter images

Great shot!
And appropriate lens. I think in some sense fogs are natures own way of having a short DOF. Do you understand what I mean?
I got what you meant. The blurr caused by rain drops and fog do resemble an effect of short Depth of field and fog bend light in the way that makes an image difficult to be reproduced

Thanks for your appraisal

Love the shot. First thing that came to mind was Apocalypse Now. Traveling up the river through the jungle. Very evocative image.

Excellent shot James! I like the mood and specially the fact that in addition to the contrasty nature , this image has also those nice fading transitions between the dark and light areas, a mixture of sharpness and blurriness in one photo!

Thanks for that, really appreciated. I just bought myself a colour lazer printer so I am getting some images printed here to see how it turns out.

Sounds like the end of the world It was a difficult walk and taking the shot with this lens was a little too brave

You made me blush by mentioning so many things I did not even notice

Great shot with what seems to me to be fairly good depth of field for 1.2. Super color, very different. Thanks.
