Man versus Gravity
Posted By: dammit_jill, 01-06-2009, 02:46 AM

Editted with Lightroom 2. This was my only PP software so I did some experimenting with it.

Shot with k100dsuper with a 55mm-300mm lens. Joshua tree california!

While I like the overall effect, I'm a bit surprised at the graininess of the shot. Was this through the intentional addition of noise to emulate film grain?

A very dramatic shot; and I like the editing.

Two things I find bothersome, though:

A speck of dust right behind the person;
Halo on the edge of the cliff caused by over-sharpening.

Take care of those and you've got a winner.

Thanks for the critque. It's been 20 days since I got Lightroom so your comments are really appreciated as far as making it better. Bare with me!

Specks of dust. There were bigger ones before I editted them out. I thought I got rid of em all! grr!

And I just recently got a used 50-200mm telephoto lens from a friend for free. Not sure if the lens itself is in the best quality..........yikes.

Hi Jill, I think it's a great shot... what ISO were you using?

Regards,
Marc

ISO at 200
F/11

I usually shoot in aperture priority. I have a k100dsuper. I used my Pentax DA 50-200mm lens.

Nice shot, and I really like the post processing that you've done to it.
