A Very Striking Flower - ID Anyone?
Lens: Pentax HD DA 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 ED DC WR Lens Camera: Pentax K3 Mark iii Photo Location: Cairns Botanical Garden ISO: 6400 Shutter Speed: 1/160s Aperture: F10

Just one of many amazing plants that were in the Cairns Botanical Gardens - a great place to visit for plant enthusiasts if you are ever in Cairns!

EDIT: I have come up with this possible identification: Scarlet Flame Bean, West Indian Mountain Rose, Brownea, Rose of Venezuela (Brownea grandiceps)

Yah, looks like a Brownea to me. Gorgeous flower display!

Lovely and interesting flower. Very well captured with great colors and excellent detail. I think Julie has it identified.

Even more interesting...that inflorescence isn't mature yet...when it is, the display will be an almost spherical ball of red, orange, yellow. Absolutely stunning! (we have one or two Browneas at the botanical garden here, I think I've posted an image or two from years ago)

Wow! a really firework of red pistils.
