Bit of a strange-looking bird! Was quite large - they can be up to 30c in length and weigh between 190-250 gr.

It has great colors around and below the eye. It is interesting to see these colors only there. Highly detailed capture with good colors.

Nice shot, Peter. I didn't know they were down that way. They are not very common these days apparently (maybe "large" = "good eating" ) I used to see them every day on my property. They were very slow to fly away, preferred to stay on the ground.
