Photographed an underage music festival on digital and film, nothing but PENTAX!
Posted By: Isaac314, 01-06-2009, 11:23 AM

On December 20th a group called underage festival who organise gigs for 14-18s in london had their christmas special. I contacted a guy at an online magazine i've been talking to and i ended up travelling down to london to cover it!

The article can be found here: Underage Xmas Festival | Platform
All the photos are by me, and the text is by my friend.

The photography was pretty tricky, the lighting was quite dark and very unpredictable, but for lighting it was pretty great. I used the K20d on manual mode, with sensitivities from 800-2200 and using the 16-50 wide open all the time.
With the pentax MX i was using ISO 400 fuji film, a 50mm f/1.4 and shutter speeds between 125 and 500.

Your pictures look great to me! I think with the crowd, the first photo is the best of the bunch. Sorry, I have no band photography experience so I am no help. I can say keep up the good work though!

I really like the perspective, the lighting and everything else. Very story telling photographs!

I like them all. Film and digital have very distinct looks.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone!
the 16-50 is perfect for band photography. A great combination of wide and fast and amazingly clear.
I was unsure how film would perform especially as it was very hard to meter with lots of reflections and spotlights, but they all turned out perfect. Makes me wish i had used more than 4 rolls!....
