It appears from the metadata that I simply turned the camera on and clicked!!! No thought of settings!!! One day I might begin to become a photographer.........

Ummm....plant ID, anyone?

Probably a bromeliad, a species of Aechmea most likely. Definitely an exotic, bromeliads are new world tropicals.
