Great exposure on a tough subject -- Snow with long shadows.

Like the B&W shot, maybe a little more contrast to it IMO.

When black and white is done well, especially wth people, to my eye, it is always looks better, IMO. Two points: in the bw version the gray cloud fomation in the (blue)sky beside the snow covered tree (centre) is disturbing. Not saying anything wrong, but it looks disturbing and unreal. 2) notice the foreground shadows in the color version, beautifully defined giving the snow lots of definition and texture. Not that the bw is bad, but it has less texture and shadow. My vote goes to the color version, but they are both nice renditions because it is a great shot.

Good points JMR!
I guess it needs a bit more contrast as wavecurrent said.

The cripsy blue against white works for me. Though black and white appears more classic and surreal, the coloured version appears more striking!

Nice capture. I prefer the colour version, as the colours from the lighting are more noticeable and adds to the image

Heh, you really gotta get some clothes on before going outside now. It was almost -20°C when i was taking this picture.
It's really beautiful outside here at winter though you have to tolerate some coldness.
