Fine Art
Posted By: Hey Elwood, 01-07-2009, 07:04 AM

These shots were taken with a K100d. I recently purchased a k20d. I'm not sure what the settings were for these shots but I wanted to see what your opinions are. Plus I'm new to the Forum.

Thanks

Three entirely different moods, all well executed. Welcome to the Forums Family, Garret. Hope to see more posts in the near future.

Awesome!
I really love the first two. I don't like the extra red on the third, even if it has is purpose, just a personal choice.

Excellent shots, and nicely titled too.

I like them all. I'm not a fan of big title lettering though. I'm mainly refering to the last one.
Smaller type would be classier and more appropriate for your very classy images.
(Just my very subjective opinion) I especially like the split toned-duotoned effect.

Welcome to the forum!!!

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I really appreciate it. I have tweaked the 2nd shot to darken the contrast a little more but I only have the 1st version available to show.

One thing I've noticed is how much some websites just rip your stuff to shreads. I'm glad this site gives more positive feedback.

I was actually ready to give up photography completely a few weeks ago.

I will try editing the text on "Lipstick" to a smaller font. When I did the font I didn't realize the image was smaller then the 1st two. I will also try toning down the red in the picture as well. That was actually the hue of the lipstick and the necklace the model was wearing that night so I didn't touch that portion of the picture. I see where bringing down the saturation would help. I'll give it a try and repost it when I have a chance.

Thanks again everyone.

Elwood

Any red is powerful on its own, so I agree, this amount can be toned down a bit as any will draw attention to itself without a boost in saturation. It's a matter of striking a balance. Great stuff.

Welcome to the forums! Out of curiosity, what internet sites were you referring to that ripped you to shreds? Your work looks professional to me, but photography, like art, is very subjective. People would even critisize Ansel Adams given the chance. I particularly like the "Art of Healing" mostly because of the story it tells, and the irony of it all.

what a beautiful introduction... welcome to the forum

We will rip you up here too, but you have to give us some worth ripping up. These are downright wonderful. I actually like the extra red on that image,
but it might work with less too.
The first two are spot on... Love the composition on all three. The second one with the barb wire and pole is perfectly framed...

You elwood are very good at this.

I love the framing and pp on 2 and 3, but the horizon in #1 bugs me. I think it's a great shot, it just needs a little tilt to the left.

Nice shots! "Wishful escape" is my favorite. I like what you did with the post-processing.

Hey Elwood!

Welcome to the forum.

As a former Michigander a special welcome. Which bridge is that? Is it the Machinac, the Zilwaukee, or the Blue Water? It can't be the Ambassador or the Belle Isle.
