Flying Rats
Posted By: Eastern Shore Charlie, 01-07-2009, 05:48 PM

I saw these guys gathering in a parking lot in Dover, DE. Me and my wife stopped to get something to eat for lunch and while pulling away I saw all these seagulls. I had my camera so I had to stop and take some shots.... My daughter call seagulls flying rats...I like them because they are heck of a lot easier to shoot than eagles or any other bird of pray

Marc is right, it is reminiscent of Hitchcock. That first image is amazing. All the birds seem like they are in just the right place making almost a triangular composition. I love the backlighting on the wings too. What a shot!

Great work Charlie, I'll take any excuse to watch 'The Birds' and you've just given me one, you reminded me of it. I just love Hitchcock.

You must be baiting them with some bread crumbs and then ambush them with a form of force...

Good effect and impact in the first shot

It is a good movie and they were a mass flying near me at least they were friendly...

French fries work wonders for bait and I really did not want to eat them any ways...

That's even worse! It's #1 and #3 for me. Although the last one is a little soft (?), I like the "unidirectional" movement of the gulls. As if you were in a storm of gulls, as you see what I mean. Nice truely!
