Birds of Prey at Play
Posted By: Eastern Shore Charlie, 01-07-2009, 06:03 PM

Since I posted my flying rats I thought I would post my shots of birds of prey. I caught this sequence on a dark cloudy day at Blackwater Wildlife Refuge while off during the Holidays....I was using my M*300. I waited for at least hour for them to move and man did they....Sure wish I had a Bigma......

I envy you the opportunity to see these eagles in the wild. They are such majestic birds. I saw one spec of one at a distance flying when I was on Catalina Island once. I was on a back country tour and had my bigma, but the eagle never came within range. It still made chills go up my spine to see it soar.

It is funny to watch these big birds on each others back. I was watching a pair of ospreys doing the back stand just the other day.
Thanks for sharing Charlie.

E S Charlie,

I know how you feel about wanting the "Bigma". It never fails that when I see something like this all I have is 200mm in the bag (if I have the bag at all). You did very well utilizing what you had though. The only eagle shots I have are of the captive ones at a zoo.

Eagles are so beautiful in the wild.

Ray
