Visiting in Southern California and wandering around the neighborhood in the early morning light.
A small sun spot caught this bottlebrush bloom.

A very nice image of one of my favorite shrubs from California. Unfortunately, we get two or three yearly cold snaps here in central Texas that would do them in.

Nicely focused and with rich red colors. Pretty, Angky. Todd's comment explains why I don't see them here.

I had often wondered where they came from!
They really do like California--or Californians really do like them!
Thanks for the appreciation as well as for the info!

Yes! That red came out so vividly with the sun spotting it, but not hot enough to overpower it.
And there was a bit of red in the morning light that also enhanced it.
Thanks for your appreciation.
Angky.

Yes, they do appear all up and down a lot of streets in So. Cal.
We can't find them hardly at all in Nor. Cal.--which i'm sure you know. Jack Frost hits us at least once every winter.
Glad you liked the shot.

Right, they aren't very tolerant of cold, it appears.
That red came out very well with the limited sun spot that hit it without burning it out.

A very nice floral composition, the intense red of the "brush" catches immediately the eye.
Many thanks for sharing Angky.

Thank you for your nice appreciation, Loris.
That intense red was significantly surprising to my own eye when I first saw the flower--I think it was due to the small aperture between leaves of a nearby tree that limited early morning sunlight.

Nice shot! Just to make it more compressed, did you try to cut the lower part where are the highlighted green leafs? However it is a big dilemma because the flower in the mysterious shadow will be lost.

Thank your for your observation!
I wanted to keep the green leaves light, along with the bright red of the main bloom.
I tried to include that flower in the dark shadows since it added a point of contrast with the bright red of the above--or so I thought.
I did bring up the lighting very slightly on that darker backgrounded bloom (with local brightening on just that spot), but it didn't show up much in the low resolution of the post.
