Been trying my hand at some food shots and I think this is something I would really like to get into... such as proper lighting and setup etc. Anyone want some recipes?!
First up is a creamy tomato basil soup:



Next is a spinach leaves salad with mandarin oranges and toasted almonds and mustard based vinaigrette:



Then we have mashed potatoes au gratin with goat cheese, garlic and scallions:



And some simple broiled salmon with garlic lemon pepper crust.



Share some of yours, I'm looking for ideas!

Just a suggestion, but with food, I'd like to see you get in closer and more intimate with the subject itself.

Yes I agree, I would like a macro lens for this stuff, right now only using the 18-250mm and a 50mm-A f/2 lens, both of which dont focus too well...

I like to use my cutting board as a backdrop for my food pictures, especially because I have a hard time muting out all the rest of the junk in my messy kitchen, and it gets a little too busy. The wood grain or solid polymer is textured and interesting enough but isn't too distracting.

Still learning, I am having a hard time negotiating the narrow DOF on my lenses when I'm up close with a wide aperture. Working with existing lighting makes it difficult, so I usually only get good pictures of lunch
