Regarding the halo, I like taking photos like this - to hide the sun behind something and take a photo, but wonder if I'm risking hurting the lens. I try not to aim it directly into the sun though. I'm glad you like it - it's my favorite. I try to really pay attention to shadows and light.

I was so glad I got my K2000 when I saw that result. :-) It's a lovely little camera!

I'll add another photo here - unbelievable color, but I haven't touched them, just cropped this one.

You have very good eye and the light is superbly captured. Even the crop is pretty good.
