This was taken near in the Undara region(Tablelands) of Australia. We travelled the Queensland area of Australia for a month in 2007. What a great trip. Lots of Kookaburras, but this is the best shot I managed. What interesting birds they are.

Kookaburra - "Bushman's Alarm Clock"

Beautiful shot. Have a family of them around my area and I have a number of great shots of them.
They are so friendly they will eat out of your hand, though wild. Noisey , yes, but a great noise to hear, in my opinion.
What do they eat? Worms, lizards snakes etc. Meat eating bird. They have been known to kill snakes of considerable size. I watched it happen (without camera, of course!)
