Pics from my friend's Sigma 70mm Macro
Posted By: dsport, 01-17-2009, 08:55 PM

My friend wanted to buy a AF macro lens for shooting flowers.
After seeking some advise from me, he bought the Sigma 70mm Macro yesterday.
On the same day in a park, I borrowed his lens for shooting a while.
Although I recommended him to buy this lens, actually this was the first time I was in touch with it.
Here are a few of my testing pics.
Thanks for watching.

Smart guy, You got your friend to spend the money and now you're using it. Why the heck didn't I think of that! Niw I just need to go find a friend...

Beautiful shots. The 4th shot in the second series is a knockout (leaf stem in water). Wow. Everything about this glass seems perfect, colour, bokeh and sharpness. You did very well with it as macros are not easy to just get great results right out of the box.

Thanks.
I need to say that I didn't want to return the lens to his wife after an hour's shooting (actually my friend bought this lens for his wife)
Indeed because of my advise, he and his wife entered Pentax with a second hand K100D and brand new K200D. They seemed to be happy with Pentax and so far so good.
I would rate the Sigma 70mm to be a very good lens and should have no regret for buying it. However, I must also point out that like all Sigmas, its anti-flare is not as good as Pentax, so be careful for flaring issue when u are facing towards direct sunlight.
Happy shootings all

Very sharp good bokeh and narrow DOF when needed. A keeper I think.

Amazingly sharp and clear pictures. Smooth bokeh as well.

Did you use MF or AF mostly with the lens?
