Felt like having a bit of fun with various filters and effects in GIMP. It looks gorgeous at 19"x13" but as always web size and resolution take the edge off it.

Wild. Reminds me of one of Jeff Potter's book covers we see around here (moreso if there were some goth girls in it). Looks like the light was very cool when you took that shot (I think). I'd like to see the a more traditional treatment too (unless you judge it unworthy).

Very much appreciated comments, guys. It's always good to get positive feedback from people whose work I respect.

Here's the original, in sepia - totally different feel. It was one of those grey days, with very flat light, which is why I decided to give it a little help.

Really like you taking a different approach to the image. It gives me all sotrs of ideas. I am like you, not afraid to try different things. Like Peter, I really like the way you adjusted the image. cheers JIM

Thanks again for all your generous feedback. FYI I used mainly the pop art and cube filters in GIMP. No doubt PS has equivalents. As you say, Gary, it's easy to get carried away and ruin the whole thing, so gently does it was the best approach for me.

I really like the post processing on the first shot. Even you decide to place the tree in the middle, the image definitely pops!
