A Pensive Daughter
Posted By: Sailor, 03-21-2007, 04:28 PM

Robin, my younger daughter - a grad student at Ohio State - was home last weekend for a short break. While she was baking cookies, I managed to catch this introspective image of her gazing out our kitchen window. Taken with a DFA 100 at ISO 140, f/2.8, 1/90s:

I wonder about her thoughts - the meaning of life? her role in the universe? will the Buckeyes take it all during March Madness?

She must be thinking about how good those cookies are gonna taste when they're done! She had a strong resemblance to Alanis Morissette. The window light is pleasing, good shot

Really nice shot Jer, you used that window light very well. Beautiful capture of a pretty young lady, and I love the expression with that almost hint of a smile. And I agree with V. She's thinking how she can hide some of the cookies so her dad doesn't eat all of them.

V. and NaClH2O - thanks much for your kind replies. Robin is back in Columbus now, getting ready - I suspect - to watch the Buckeyes play UT.

great shot and nice looking daughter!
I really like these types of shots as they tell a story... unlike "posed" shots.
I am impressed how sharp the lens is wide open

window light is natures paintbrush

thanks for sharing this with us

Nice shot. I like the light from the window and how she is lost in her thoughts.

Cheers

So am I Randy - something I didn't think about when I ordered it (with macro uses only in mind). Looks like it could come in handy as a reasonably fast (in the optical sense) medium tele, although it is slow to focus even on my K10D, perhaps owing to the amount of barrel travel or some other reason - Adam (Mo) doubtless could tell us.
