Cincinnati Zoo with DA 55-300 (several images)
Posted By: Bud, 01-21-2009, 08:49 PM

Inspired by Carie's winter visit to the zoo series, I set out this afternoon to see what our local menagerie had in store. I decided to spend the day with the DA 55-300... for the price, you just can't beat it.

As always, C&C welcomed and encouraged.

Great set of photos! I really need to visit the SF zoo again - the last time I visited was probably about 10 years ago. Since then, I moved and now I'm literally right across the street from it but haven't visited it since

Truely magnificent! You not only place a strong emphasis on the lines and patterns from the nature. Your use of background really compliments these subjects nicely

They are sooooo sharp. Good investment in glass I'd say. Can't go past the zeeeebras and I love the Flamingo shot. Might be one to consider sending in to the gallery?

Truly eye catching pictures...! Shows clearly that the equipment does not limit your skills everytime.

Well, done.

Marvelous pics there. Are these just resized or crops or both?
The amount of details in some closeups is superb.

I agree on the lens choice for the $$ it's hard to beat. Looks like you had some great vantage points. The crane is just wow ! Nice series.

Hey Bud,

Really nice series of images there. I went over them three times and really think that you captured pretty wonderful moments. Looks like some tough lighting situations though.

I highly recommend supporting your local zoo... I've never been to the SF Zoo... San Diego is spectacular! I've decided that weekly winter visits may now be a part of regimen... no lines, no strollers... and the animals seem to be much more relaxed.

Thanks for the comments!

Bud

Thanks, James! It's a completely different experience there when no one else is around. I really enjoyed being able to work on shot composition and waiting for the right moment... nature is very cool!
