Macro with the Vivitar 105mm f/2.5
Posted By: Hannican, 01-25-2009, 06:30 PM

Anyone who says this lens isn't sharp as a tack is out of their mind! I am incredibly happy that I picked this thing up, even though I bought it at the peak of the Vivitar Series 1 craze (think I paid just under $400 for it). It was worth every penny.

Imagining what I could do with a set of Macro focusing rails is making it very difficult not to whip out the old debit card right now...

By the way- can anyone explain to me how to read EXIF data? I want to see what aperture I took this shot at, but I can't seem to figure it out. Is EXIF a program I need to download?

HI Hannican

You can use photoshop and click on file info on the menu, on my mac if you right click the image it gives me the exif

This was shot at 1/15@F13 on a Pentax K10D

Nicely done. The Series 1 is indeed a sharp lens and yields great colors and contrast. It's a keeper for sure.

I just got my Series 1 105mm f/2.5 macro today. See my first shots here > https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-your-photos/48230-first-shots-vivita...5mm-macro.html

Hannican,

EXIF data is embedded in the image data if the camera supports it (most do, all Pentax DSLRs do). If you have an editing program or Picassa you can find it in the "more information" or "file information" drop down menu. If you have trouble locating the information, click on the programs help menu (F1 on the keybord usually brings it up) and type in "EXIF" or "metadata".

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the comments and information everyone!

I just found the little tab in Photoshop- though mine only showed me the Aperture and ISO speed for this image- the shutter speed info was blank... weird...
