Your photographs are each beautiful and well composed. I especially liked "Are you Talking to Me?" and "Arkansas Sunrise"
Like most things in life, a pedigree will only get you in the door, then your work has to speak for itself. And your work speaks volumes for your abilities. Keep pursuing your dream and sharing your amazing images and skills with us. Many thanks for inspiration.
Hi Erl,
Believe it or not, I am really humbled by you and others for such a vote of confidence in me. I hear or read these comments, and therefore should accept and have faith in myself. I just have a mission in life: to prove that great photos can be had with a camera system not made by the "big two".
That being said, I believe this best describes how I shoot, and that was difficult to categorize or describe:

Heck, the local camera stores uses my website to sell their Pentax gear!

I hope you've seen the broad daylight, ugly version of "Arkansas Sunrise"???
The funny part is that I have only tried once to sell myself: my normal method is to show people my work, and it does the talking for me. I'd rather stand behind my work than beside or in front of it. They like what they see or it's not what they are looking for...
BTW, that portraiture "Are You Talking to Me?" was my first time ever doing it. I had the good fortune to have a "coach" working with the girls. I was actually quite adverse to doing portraiture, simply because it was an unknown for me, and I feared failure.
It was part of a child photography class held by our regional photo society, which is very vibrant with over 300 members. Most folks are newcomers or some have been shooting for a while, and there are several professionals in the mix.
The studio belongs to a local pro - he uses Photogenics lighting and soft boxes - I shot F/8, 1/125 sec. handheld with my K10D & FA* 80-200/2.8, in RAW. They are razor sharp at full size. Even at 200% there is no pixelation in the RAW file. At 300% there is slight pixelation at the edge of the whites (sclera) of the eye and the pupil. It is amazing.
You know, I don't post often, or put very lengthy posts down as a general rule. This is the other side of photography we normally do not discuss on forums. I guess it's important to show people the human side of our aspirations: the fears, the (sometimes) lack of confidence in yourself to do well, and all of your hopes, etc. After all, many of our photographic subjects show people our humanity...
Regards,
Marc
