The seedier side of Melbourne
Posted By: knumbnutz, 01-26-2009, 09:53 PM

The back alleys, graffiti and the individuals that make up the seedier side of a city.
Take a small walk with me,

We go past the 'shadow walkers' and down the side road

A vagabond asks for a spare cigarette as we stroll past

a girl walks past

a man checks to see if he can afford her

Elvis is lurking around the corner.

K20D with either DA*16-50 or DA*50-135
Hope you like.
Cheers Neil

hi Neil.

Number 2 and 4 are my favorite. Pity that I miss out the elderly guy in the shoot and you just remind me to process my own shots!

Hi James, Did you see your cameo appearance in one of the photos. If you did, you better read the description of the photo again.....

Post the old guy here when you have finished processing.

Wonderful series and walk, thank you! The first scene and the B&W old man are my favourites, boy I wish I could see the first one in a little bigger version...

Thanks Neil! There is something very pleasing in the lighting of that B&W photo, even more so in the bigger picture! Great additions!

Terrific shots, Neil! I love how the first series jumps from B&W to striking color.

If I were about 40 years younger, I'd like to meet the blond in the first B&W (never minding the fact that my wife would kill me).

Hi Georg,
I reckon in the first photo it is pleasing because of the shadow on the bottom left, something about it stands right out, maybe shape or the because it becomes bokeh as it gets closer.
It was why i added it as a small version to start with so it stands out because you can see the whole image.
Of course i could be full of cr@p too

Thanks everyone for the comments, appreciated.

Cheers Neil

Spotted some graffiti you might care to investigate Knumbnutz, it's the Clifton Hill end of Wellington St.
Lovely pics BTW.

Cool pics. Hoping to capture some seedy photos when i return home to Melbourne. I have spent alot of time trying to capture some of the projects in China but didn't have my Pentax long enough to shoot some of my own city before i left. Again, nice series.
