Hey Gus if you go to other sites, all the points you have made come up. There appears to be two camps or kinds of thinking on matters of abstract art or photography. For me, no matter how abstract an image or painting, if it does not have some link to representation, it is difficult to relate to. And if we can't relate to it, who will notice it! Even the pattern of black and white is recognizable as a pattern and somewhat as a fence, though not exactly or definitively.
So yes, I stop and stare almost every time I see an abstract image. Like both images, but the first just keeps me coming back.
