The Air Force Museum
Posted By: Tuner571, 01-28-2009, 06:38 AM

Made a quick stop at the Air force Museum before the weather turned for the worst. Anyway, this is what I was able to get as I walked through. This place offers a great amount of photography opportunities, but unfortunately the hangers are not lite very well which caused some difficult times. Even with my fast 50 and iso 800, shutter times where still slower then what I would have liked.

C&C is appreciated,
Thanks, Cory

Really good shots for probably very difficult lighting.
Metallic gold color of the bi-plane and the red and black of the altimeter came out very well.
Makes me want to go and shoot at our air force museum.
Well done.

Nice series in difficult conditions. I like the small dings on the planes.

I like this series. You made very good use of the lighting that you had. It gives the feeling of being in the hangar with the planes instead of a studio. Nice work!

Very impressive group

Well done! These are views that are often overlooked.

Does the museum allow tripods or monopods?

Thanks Sigmoid,

I'm sure they won't mind tripods, which is why I plan to bring mine next time.

#5 and #7 are my favorite. I like the mixed color tones in 5, and composition is quite nice. In #7, the red cast and angle gives a real "In the middle of flight" feel.

#2 could work but I think the glider behind the DC3 is distracting. I feel there is no clear subject. Otherwise I would like it a lot

I really like the warm and dim light in these photos! Good detail also. #1 and #5 are my favourites!

The lighting creates a very good mood.

Great variation of plane with creative angles.

These are wonderful shots, Cory; the detail in these pictures - particularly "F-O-R-D" is masterful. I love the AF Museum - my daughter is a grad student at Ohio State, and we visited the museum a couple of years ago. I hope you don't mind if add a three shots of this terrific and massive museum to your thread (one of which I think I posted here or on dpreview a couple of years ago). And . . . . you can't beat the price of admission.

I really like the 2nd shot- both the DC3 and the glider have a look to them, kinda like they're ready to zoom off into the sky. There's a sense of anticipated motion in them.

Y'all are making me want to go to Ohio! That museum looks incredible.

Cory,
Great series and I think you may have inspired me to head up that way soon It's been several years since I've visited there and I'm not very far away.

The lighting in your shots is wonderful!
