Frozen berries
Posted By: unkabin, 01-30-2009, 10:49 AM

Just got a 50mm 1.4 M in the mail yesterday. As a new Pentax owner (K10D), this is my first use of a non-auto-focus lens. I found it a pleasure, bringing me back to simpler times with my Minolta XE

Lots of ice here in Louisville. And lots of folks without power--not us, fortunately. I learned a lesson about batteries on this shoot. Bring extra in the cold, and put them in a warm pocket. (flower shot is indoors, obviously)

I like the icy colour tones in the first two! Wish there were a little more DOF in those. So now you know why this lens is described as special

The first two are my favorites. Looks that you have a fine tool in your hands

The first one is really good abstract. The overall effect caused by narrow depth of field works very well here

Thanks for the comments. I, too, like the first one best. The fastest lens I've owned has been a 1.7. For the next few weeks, I'm going to have to force myself to spin that aperture ring away from 1.4.
