This is what a few days at above 40C does to a rhododendron

Hint: it should be green

Richard.

Richard was that the 45.1 C day. Yep I know how the rhododendron feels.

I noticed a row of Lily Pilly bushes all burnt at the top from the same heat. Adelaide got to 45.7 or something this week, just as well the A/c works.

regards from Adelaide.

Hi Kevin,

I took that shot this afternoon, but it's the result of yesterday's 45.1. There was a bit of brown after the first couple of +40 days, but yesterday did the main damage. It's the wind on top of the temp that desiccates. We also had power cuts in VIC. It seems that the grid connection to Tassie doesn't work in hot weather. Sigh. We were lucky and only had one hour of no power on Thursday. The A/c was struggling, but it soldiered through

I am lost when it comes to composing a picture like the first one. What's the main focus? I picked a brown leaf and made sure it was in focus, but when I tried to move it away from the centre of the image (thinking of rule of thirds), it didn't work. Too much in the picture, maybe.

Is this the way to do it? Just pick one isolated leaf? This is a flowering cherry tree.

It should be green too

Regards,
Richard.

Yeah, smoking hot.

The leaves were basicly scortched by the heat!

I was doing my evening stalking of the local lorrikeets the other evening, some rose bushes Id photo'd a couple of days earlier were looking equally frazzled, might have to add some before and after pics to this thread.
