Part 3: At Work

Shot of a man at a Cigar rolling operation west of Puerto Plata. The operation resided in what amounted to a small hut and consisted of four employees. 2 Cigar rollers, 1 Packager who put labels on the cigars and put them into boxes, and one cashier. I believe the tour guide mentioned that they produce about 100 boxes of cigars a day ranging in price and quality. Tobacco is purchased from a factory in Santiago.



The rural poor of the Dominican Republic have no access to laundry machines. This young woman has pulled her wash bucket into a small stream and cleans her family's clothes there.



I was standing on a dirt road taking a picture of an eagle when I glanced over my shoulder to see this bearing down on me!



Moments later I was relieved to see that the herd was under control!

All three series you posted are exceptional! I have been fortunate enough to visit the Dominican Republic; you've really captured the beauty of the people there. Such a wonderful place to visit......

Like your other series of shots, this one tells a story. I love the 2nd and 3rd shots in this group. I imagine the sight of a herd coming over the ridge was a bit jolting.

Those are cool pictures of the cigar rollers. I am supposed to go to Honduras for a cigar event, and plan on taking my camera, so I should have some cool shots to share as well.

It's been over a year since I have visited the pentax forums. I am glad to be back.

Great series, seems like I missed the other posts, but this one is great, I like specially the last two!
