Sun after long grey period
Posted By: gawan, 01-31-2009, 01:47 PM

After a long period of cloudy and grey days we finally had a nice sunny winter day, and even some snow here in southern coast. Here are some snapshots from today's walk:

People were enjoying the day for full

It was just an hour after midday, but the sun was not that high

Ice was glistering

Number 2 has the fantastic lighting and mood

Number 3 has a great emphasis on the ice texture

Great images, George. Looking forward to see more!

Really interesting the way the ice is breaking up. I like the one with the duck.

The ice is actually just forming up! It begins as small coins size plates, that join to bigger and bigger plates forming a pattern you can see in that picture. The pattern depends on the wind conditions though, but this has nicely formed quite after theoretical patterns as there was no heavy wind.

Here is one more for the study:

Tsk, tsk, you should not be hiding that last wonderful image. Also really like the duck shot and the first scene with the boulder. Boulders have a a kind symbolic quality to them every time I look at them. The first image looks like Nova Scotia. You should go back and try to capture these scenes at sunrise/sunset.

LOL, did not know I had a hidden treasure! Thank you, very much appreciated! Anyway that was good for explaining the ice formation. Also I planned to make another post from the series of that day, we'll see.
