Hairy Woodpecker (Sigma 70-200EX with Sigma 2xTC)
Posted By: palmor, 03-26-2007, 06:54 AM

Hi all,
Took this shot yesterday with the lens in the subject line. There are been a ton of questions on this lens with TC's and TC's in general so I thought I'd post it here (as well as the other forum).

Comments/Questions welcome.

Anyway here it is:
Pentax K10D ,Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX APO IF
1/750s f/4.0 at 200.0mm iso400 (with Sigma 2xTC)

Great catch! I constantly hear a woodpecker on my neighbor's tree, but I can NEVER seem to spot it!

envy about the f/2.8....gives you extra capability when using the TC. These are not easily photographed nor seen. Great job.

I just got lucky that he stayed still for a split second. I got a couple of other cool shots of him with wood flying out from where he was pecking. I'll post one of those when I get a chance to process it.

Thanks for commenting everyone!

What a great capture. The tree trunk adds a perspective to the bird's own routine.
