Samples from my first Product Shoot
Posted By: Buddha Jones, 01-31-2009, 06:08 PM

Here are some of the shots that I came up with for my clients website, The Prettiest Pearl. She is a jewelry maker that specializes in pearls, obviously, which are harder than crap so shoot because I haven't figured out yet how to get ME from reflecting in them. I am going to have to do some research and some PP as a result, but here are some of the concepts that I came up with. All were shot in a lightbox with a black velvet backdrop and continuous lighting and K10D on a tripod. I had to use my DA*50-135mm with a set of Bower Macro Filters on it because I sold my macro lens before I realized that I needed it. (My hands are dead and cold)

There are some others but I think these are my best examples. If anyone knows how to stop getting myself reflected into the image, please let me know. Thanks to everyone who assited me in one way or another with advice and/or links to advice.

Thanks everyone for the compliments and siggestions. Mia was floored by the results of this, she had no idea that I was going to do thi level of artistic shots for her site, and quite frankly neither did I. I knew what I wanted to do but was unsure that I would be able to pull it off with any level of respectability.

Nicely done Jay. Really like the first two. what is your back drop? I am thinking of doing the same for my summer flower shots. JIM

Jay, these look very polished (no pun intended); they should make the sale.

You know what, I forgot all about that, and honestly I really don't think that I qualify as a professional. Just because I got paid to take some photos doesnt quite put me in the realm of a pro photographer.

Well I just launched the site so you can see the rest of the images from the shoot. The site is at the end of the first of three phases.
